Pastils of Roses
Pastils are tablets that
are burned like incense. These pastils burn with a sweet scent, similar
to frankincense but unique.
This is a much older way of burning incense than the sticks you may be familiar with. It takes a few extra items, but the scent is well worth it! Many find the act of setting up and burning this type of incense to be almost meditative, a calming ritual in the midst of a busy day.
To use, you will need a few pieces of equipment; if you have burned pure gum incense before, this list will look familiar:
Fill the heat-safe dish with sand or gravel. Make sure it is on a heat-proof surface; a brick works nicely. Light the charcoal and place it in the dish; then place a pastil on top of the charcoal.
Please take all usual precautions when using matches; do not let incense charcoal burn unattended.
